Vancouver Island Symphony presents:
" Vancouver Island Legends"

Grade 5 to 7

A multi-media education concert taking students on a journey through time! Your students will explore our region's past.


Length: 50 minutes - $7.50 + GST

Complete your LEGENDS experience with a

visit to the New Nanaimo Regional District

Museum. Tours will be scheduled before or

after the performance and will take

approximately 45 minutes.

Fee is $2 per person.

" Haydn's 200th Anniversary Surprise Party"

Grade 3 to 6

A tribute to the father of the symphony featuring Guy Few on trumpet and piano with members of the V.I. Symphony. The concert includesthe famous "Toy Symphony" with special guests playing toy instruments. Haydn often incorporated jokes in his music.

The Port Theatre presents:
" EARTH=home" - Judith Marcuse Projects

Grade 8 and up

Judith Marcuse has become know for promoting the arts as a tool for change. EARTH=home explores the relationship between man and the earth and, by extention, with each other. This accessible, fast-paced and entertaining new show explores issues of the environment and social justice with a multi-generational cast of dancers, actors and singers. Using movement, text, song an projected imagery, EARTH takes a sometimes surreal look at the state of our planet through the lens of young people.

Earth=Home opened the UN World Urban Festival to raves from teens and adults!

Teacher Study guide will be available.
