The Port Theatre Society is pleased to provide our audiences with services that help enhance your performance experience.

Accessibility & Special Accommodations

We’re committed to increasing access to live theatre for all audience members. If you have a specific request that will make your theatre experience more comfortable, please contact our Ticket Centre before purchasing your ticket. CALL 250-754-8550 or email tickets@porttheatre.com. Services available for patrons include:

  • Hearing assistance devices
  • Bariatric chairs
  • Complimentary in-house wheelchairs
  • One elevator
  • Over 28 wheelchair / accessible seating options
  • Assistance with seating (please arrive 30 minutes prior to start time and our front of house staff will be happy to assist you)
  • Service dogs are welcome; however, due to potential severe allergic reactions of employees and other patrons, service dogs must be positioned in accessible areas of the theatre. Please contact the Ticket Centre to arrange your seating options.
  • Unique needs. Our team is happy to discuss additional requests and provide suggestions tailored to you.

Audience Services Desk

Located in the centre of the main lobby, our friendly staff/volunteers will assist you with booster seats, coat check, hearing assistance devices and complimentary wheelchairs. Audience Services also houses a first aid station and our lost-and-found centre. Please contact our Front of House Manager on the night of your show if we can help you in any way.

Washrooms

The Port Theatre strives to be a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all. We offer accessible single-occupancy gender-neutral washroom options on all levels of the facility. We are in the process of creating signage to better reflect the Port Theatre’s inclusive values.

Licensed Bar Service

Before the show, enjoy our highly popular Pre-Order Service so that your drink is ready for you at the beginning of intermission. We feature international and VQA wines available by the glass and a selection of domestic and imported beers and ciders.

Out of consideration for other members of the audience, performers and staff, please observe our following theatre policies:

If you’re unwell, please do not attend

If you or anyone from your party feels unwell before the performance, please do not attend. Please contact the Port Theatre Ticket Centre at 250-754-8550: Monday to Friday 11am to 5pm, Saturday 12 to 5pm, and always open 2  hrs. before a ticketed showtime

Babes-in-arms

Babes-in-arms are not permitted for adult performances. Please check with the Ticket Centre regarding specific event restrictions.

Latecomers

At a suitable break in the performance, latecomers will be escorted to available seats in the back of the concert hall.

Electronic Devices & Recordings

As a courtesy to performers and your fellow patrons, please turn off cellular phones and personal entertainment devices. The use of any type of audio or visual recording is prohibited unless otherwise permitted by the artists and promoter. Please refer to the event page for more information about the show.

Chemical Sensitivity

Some patrons have serious allergies to strong fragrances, forcing them to leave the theatre. In consideration for those seated around you, please refrain from wearing perfume, aftershave or other scented products.

Prohibited Items and Security

Security measures may be increased for certain events. These measures include, but are not limited to a more thorough search of persons and property.

Prohibited Items include any items, either legal or illegal in nature, where possession is restricted from entry into the Port Theatre by Federal, Provincial, or Municipal Law, Regulation, or Port Theatre Policy. Prohibited Items are subject to change for different events.

The list of Prohibited Items includes but is not limited to:

  • Weapons
  • Fireworks
  • Laser Pointers
  • Illegal Drugs and Substances
  • Drones
  • Bottles or containers with capacity greater than 1 litre. Glass bottles of any size are not permitted. (Empty personal water bottles,with or without lids, up to 1 litre capacity are permitted into the venue and are subject to inspection at the gate. Permitted bottles can be filled with water at drinking fountains located on the main concourse. Bottled water can also be purchased from concessions.)
  • Perfume or cologne bottles.
  • Poles and Selfie Sticks
  • Aerosol cans, Paints or Flammable Liquids
  • Skateboards, Rollerblades or Bicycles
  • Alcohol
  • Outside food or beverages (exceptions may be made for medical or dietary reasons)
  • Cameras larger than 6 inches (150mm) in length with lens attached (Note: camera policy may vary for specific events)
  • Helium balloons, beach balls, and air pumps
  • Noise makers must be used in a manner that respects the comfort and enjoyment of all guests. Air Horns and whistles of any kind are not permitted. Drums are permitted, provided they fit within the guest’s lap. Drums are subject to search upon entry and may only be used with express permission.
  • Vuvuzelas and cowbells.
  • Signs, flags or displays that are offensive, racist, discriminatory, use inappropriate language, or are religious, political or commercial in nature.
  • Posters and signs.
