A Port Theatre DISCOVERY Series Presentation

Sonnet L’Abbé is an internationally recognized poet who lives in Nanaimo and teaches at Vancouver Island University. They write about belonging, sexuality, race, identity and plants. After the publication of their most recent book, Sonnet’s Shakespeare, they turned their verse-writing skills to songwriting, and have been active in the local music scene. Most recently they wrote and performed the song “Nazaneen: A Song For Nanaimo” at the Port Theatre. Sonnet was also one of the co-organizers of the Black Lives Matter rally in Nanaimo in June of 2020.

NEW! Discovery Series ~ Support Local Talent

The Discovery Series is The Port Theatre Society’s new presentation series that features emerging artists from our Vancouver Island community. We’re supporting and growing local talent in our region. Together, we’ll explore the diversity and wealth of talent right here at home… sharing the ever-evolving relationship between audience and artists. Join us on our adventure to uncover what’s in the hearts and minds of these artists. Our Discovery Series will be surprising and heartwarming.

Enjoy LIVESTREAMING for $12. Only one ticket needed per household. Plus… enjoy 24-hour access to the performance once it goes live!

IN-THEATRE tickets available at $27.
