Together again! After two years of pandemic darkness, Nanaimo Sings! is thrilled to be able to again offer performance opportunities for its member choirs.
Nanaimo Sings!, an umbrella choral organization for local community choirs, is proud to be part of the richly diverse cultural landscape of our city. Choral music is what Nanaimo Sings! stands for. It is what we do both individually and collectively. Made in Nanaimo: Celebrating Song and Partnership marks the resumption of live performance for this organization and a revitalization of its purpose which is to promote “community through song”.
As part of this event, Nanaimo Sings! reached out to build partnerships within the community, recognizing that Nanaimo is home to many talented, creative artists. Through a search in early 2022, seven original songs composed by Nanaimo singer/songwriters were selected. Subsequently, four talented Nanaimo-based musicians were commissioned by Nanaimo Sings! to write choral arrangements of those songs. The culmination of this project will see singers from member choirs performing these works in partnership with each other and with the musicians who arranged them.
