Experience the excitement of Canada’s National Championships in Ballroom & Latin Dancing – held for the first time in Nanaimo!

DanceSport BC and the Island Fantasy Ball are proud to present this prestigious national DanceSport event, the largest ever held in Nanaimo.
This two day event will feature the best of the best athletes in Canada vying for the top Canadian DanceSport titles and the honor to represent Canada in the World Championships. Other highlights will include Teacher/Student and Professional Show Dance Championships. Couples of all ages and all levels of ability will compete in the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, and more.
A delicious gourmet buffet dinner will be served on both Saturday and Sunday evenings with a cash bar service. You are invited to join us for this exciting weekend filled with the elegant and graceful Ballroom dances as well as the sexy, intricate and explosive energy Latin events.
Daytime sessions offer all levels of competitions including Juvenile, Junior, Youth, Adult and Senior couples. Throughout the competitions we offer breaks for social dancing as well as top-notch entertainment by our highly skilled couples. Both evenings will culminate in a “Showcase” of top dancers performing routines highlighting their skills, choreography, musicality and imagination. Pure entertainment!
This weekend is sure to entertain the whole family as well as dance enthusiasts both from the community and from across Canada. The Island Fantasy Ball is well known as a destination event for many people and now, in hosting the 2025 Canadian Closed Championships, it will be our biggest and most wide-reaching event ever held. The Nanaimo Hospitality Association, the City of Nanaimo, local businesses and dedicated individuals are again supporting us and helping to make our event a reality. Like us, they believe that this is a great cultural event for Nanaimo.
