A Port Theatre Spotlight Series Presentation
A MAJOR DANCE PHENOMENON
Founded by a group of ballet enthusiasts for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesti, the gentlemen of the Trocks have been entertaining audiences worldwide for nearly 40 years.
The fact that men dance all the parts–heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, angst-ridden Victorian ladies–enhances rather than mocks the spirit of dance as an art form, delighting both ballet connoisseurs and beginners.
“They are the best kind of artful parodists, capable of illuminating the most gripping sections of classical ballet, albeit via a wink and smile and the occasional well-placed shtick,” says the Calgary Herald.
Please note: The ballet company has requested that latecomers be seated after intermission to ensure artists and patrons aren’t disrupted through the first act. We encourage you to arrive early so you don’t miss any of the show.
