The Nanaimo Chinese Cultural Society (NCCS) is proud to present our annual Lunar New Year Gala! In 2025, we embrace the Year of the Horse. The Horse is the seventh symbol of the Chinese Zodiac, and is confident, agreeable, and responsible, although they also tend to dislike being reined in by others.

Lunar New Year, often called the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year, is the most important holiday in China and Chinese communities around the world. It is not only celebrated in China — many other asian communities such as Vietnam, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore also partake in honouring this remarkable holiday. Traditionally celebrated over a two week period, this holiday is centered around the gathering of friends and family, to share in the feasting and celebrating of this joyous time.

We are honoured to invite all members of our community to join us for this year's Lunar New Year event, which will be the largest celebration in our region!

The NCCS Gala is an annual sold-out event that stands as the most coveted community gathering celebrating Asian culture, dance, cuisine, and the Lunar New Year. The Gala will include lion dancers, along with a variety of other performances and of course an Asian style buffet. There will also be 50/50 draw and a silent auction.
