CANADIAN CONTEMPORARY BALLET

This bold interpretation takes the audience down the rabbit hole, further than ever before. Wonderland has always been a place to expect the unexpected, but Paul Destrooper takes it a little further where humour and surrealism blend seamlessly.

Ballet Victoria’s full-length ballet,  Alice in Wonderland is rich with animated projections, clever sets, and beautiful costumes. The choreography is imaginative and playful while showcasing classical bravura and pantomime. Expect all the iconic characters of the story and a few surprises. The score by B. Britten affords the production British flair, eccentricities and humorous notes that permeate the work. Several characters such as the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter as well as smaller roles instantly became both audiences' and dancers’ favorites. Prepare to enjoy a bit of folly and some stellar dancing and acting.
