TheatreOne offers a unique experience each year with its Emerging Voices series.
New works from Canadian playwrights are submitted to our Artistic Associate, Jessica Schacht. She then selects three to work on with the playwrights, culminating in an intensive workshop and public reading hosted in the Port Theatre Lobby.
It is a rare platform for input and a great opportunity to see their work performed. For theatre lovers, it is a wonderful chance to both engage in the creative process and enjoy a stimulating and entertaining evening of theatre.
Each performance is by donation at the door.
The Shape of Your Good Days by Anna Marie Anderson
March 22nd, 7:30pm
The Shape of Your Good Days is a “dramedy”—a combination of drama and comedy. It tells the story of Alexander and June who are learning how to love again. June struggles with many difficulties which ultimately result in a crucial decision that affects the way Alexander will live the rest of his life. This play will ask to be invited into your heart.
About the Playwright: Anna Marie is a theatre creator who lives and creates on traditional unceded Lekwungen territory. She previously directed Victoria Fringe Productions Summer Bucket List (2019 Best Original New Work, Best Drama) and The Fitting Room (2018 Overall Favourite Show, Bravest Show). She often works with plays that deal with themes of social justice, coming of age and mental health. She feels immense gratitude to be selected for TheatreOne’s Emerging Voices Program.
