Your Port Theatre experience is getting an upgrade!
After a lengthy process in applying for updates to our liquor licensing, the Port Theatre is nearly ready to allow beverages into the house. This means no more frantically finishing your glass of wine in the lobby before returning for act II!
Before we can let people bring drinks into the house, we need to create a place to put them (so your hands are free to applaud, of course). That's where we are hoping you're willing to help us out a bit. Some of you may have noticed a few trial-run cupholders in some of the centre seats in row L, and if you haven't, you'll start seeing them on more seats in the fall.

A $35 donation would cover the cost of one cupholder.
We're one of the last theatres in BC to not be licensed to bring drinks into the house, so this is an exciting upgrade that keeps pace with our industry. If you've ever sat in one of our seats wishing you had a drink with you, consider making a donation to help us make it happen.

On top of installing cupholders, we're also investing in new, reusable plastic cups with lids to take into the house. The glass we have now is great, but can be a bit of a hazard if it gets dropped on the floor when you jump to your feet to dance along to your favourite tunes. The plastic cups are safer for everyone, and the lids will help keep spillage to a minimum. Reusable cups, rather than disposable cups, are a greater initial investment but are much better for the environment and more durable along the way.
Our estimates for reusable cups are around $5,000. Any fund raised beyond the initial $25,000 target will go to support the costs of the new cups.
