Luminous Music for Treble Voices at St. Andrew’s United Church, 311 Fitzwilliam St., Nanaimo
We celebrate the work of composers whose music reflects the stunning beauty of the northern lights. The Island Bel Canto Singers will sing a wide range of works, from Lightfoot’s ‘Song for a Winter’s Night’ to ‘Northern Lights’ by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo to the stunning ‘Moon Goddess,’ featuring text by Enheduanna, the world’s first named author and a Mesopotamian priestess born in 2286 BCE.
This winter concert will include the debut of the Island Flora Girls’ Choir. The young women will present music from the movie Frozen, a piece by Enya, and seasonal works sung with the women’s choir. Pianist Stefanie Unger and organist Jenny Vincent will support the singers in this wonderful concert that includes piano pieces for four hands.
