Called a “cult sensation” by Vancity Buzz, Geekenders Theatrical Nerdlesque has taken the Canadian burlesque scene by storm. Since their debut in 2011, Geekenders Nerdlesque has been in high demand, performing to packed audiences in Vancouver’s most fabulous venues, wowing over 85,000 audience members in British Columbia with their tightly-choreographed Vegas-style nerdlesque spectaculars.

Today, Geekenders Nerdlesque is well-known for seamlessly integrating the worlds of body positivity, burlesque, geekery, drag, queerlesque, dance, and theatre into their productions, incorporating well-known burlesque stars with passionate newcomers to create shows full of good humour, love for their source material, and a unique, whimsical style all their own.

TheatreOne has been bringing professional theatre to Nanaimo and the mid-Island for 40 years. We engage diverse local audiences of all ages and persuasions, including the very young, and in doing so support theatre professionals and local businesses. We work with playwrights from British Columbia and across Canada to foster development of new Canadian works; we premier new productions; and through our support to touring artist’s we give Nanaimo audiences access to great theatre developed elsewhere.

Nanaimo’s TheatreOne introduced their new TheatreOne Showcase Series – Supporting live professional theatre at TheatreOne in February with the very popular Valentines’ Day Doug and the Slugs concert at the Port Theatre. The series was created to raise funds for both the survival of Nanaimo’s long running professional theatre company, as well as providing funds towards the goal of having the company return to producing professional live theatre productions in Nanaimo.
