Join the Island Time Saxophone Quartet and Island Brass on May 13, 2:30 P.M. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Nanaimo, to support a water well-building project in Nigeria. This concert is intentionally geared for all generations to enjoy. The double bill of saxophone quartet + friends and a brass quintet is a rare treat.
Island Brass was formed in the spring of 2018. While the membership of Island Brass has varied somewhat over the years, it has always been comprised of professional music educators, full-time professional musicians, and serious hobbyists. Combined, they have several lifetimes worth of musical performances and experiences. The quintet’s varied repertoire includes classical, pop, jazz, and folk music. Island Brass has performed for various community events, fundraising concerts, weddings, church services, and full concerts.
Island Time Saxophone Quartet is a committed ensemble of musicians who love variety and can entertain all audiences with their vast music library. Years of dedicated work together have resulted in a group that will have you tapping your toes, enjoying beautiful melodies and experiencing a new approach to a small wind ensemble. The group members are Rod Mont, Brent Pattison, Jim Thompson and Nicola Crowhurst, who all live on Vancouver Island. Joining them today are Jill Mont on the keyboard and Wayne Finucan on drums. These two musical groups have come together to support a shared purpose that we in Canada are privileged to take for granted – clean water. The Oko-Odifulu Health Centre in Delta State, Nigeria, no longer has clean running water for patient care as their borehole water well has quit working. They are currently carrying water from a nearby river. The Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak and the Rotary Club of Asaba are collaborating to rehabilitate a local borehole. Proceeds from your ticket purchase will help make clean, fresh water accessible.
